Head to Head

Coros Nomad vs Coros Pace 4

The Pace 4 is the cheaper, lighter road-running watch with a bright AMOLED display, while the Nomad costs $100 more for a rugged, sunlight-friendly memory-in-pixel screen, a built-in speaker for hands-free calls, and a case built for trails and fishing trips. Both have dual-band GPS and offline maps, so this comes down to build and display, not features. The Pace 4 is also 9 grams lighter.

The Full Story

The Nomad is Coros's adventure watch: a rugged plastic-and-aluminum case in the style of a Garmin Instinct, a sunlight-friendly memory-in-pixel touchscreen, and global offline maps with trail and street names, which the Instinct 3 doesn't have. It adds dual-frequency GPS, ECG, a speaker for hands-free calls, and voice notes that feed an Adventure Journal, with 22 days of daily use and 34 hours of dual-frequency GPS. It skips NFC payments, a flashlight, and streaming music, and the MIP screen is less vivid than the AMOLED on Coros's Pace line.

At 40 grams with a bright AMOLED screen, dual-band GPS, and 41 hours of GPS battery, the Pace 4 punches well above its $249 price. A recent firmware update added offline maps, closing the biggest gap between it and pricier watches, while it still skips deep smartwatch extras to stay focused on being an excellent, lightweight training tool.
