GarminGarmin Forerunner 55
- •You want to save $50 and don't mind Garmin's older, heavier design
- •Button-only simplicity appeals to you
- •You want Coros's higher-rated, lighter current-generation watch plus offline maps
- •$50 more is an easy call for the newer hardware
At 40 grams with a bright AMOLED screen, dual-band GPS, and 41 hours of GPS battery, the Pace 4 punches well above its $249 price. A recent firmware update added offline maps, closing the biggest gap between it and pricier watches, while it still skips deep smartwatch extras to stay focused on being an excellent, lightweight training tool.
The Forerunner 55 sticks to buttons and a simple display, but still includes race predictor, suggested daily workouts, and recovery tracking underneath. It's proof that a watch doesn't need AMOLED or a touchscreen to actually coach you.
