Suunto Race S vs Suunto Run 2
A genuinely odd spot in Suunto's own lineup: the Race S is the more established, higher-rated watch, matches Run 2 on dual-band GPS and offline maps, and adds 16 more hours of GPS battery life, all for $50 less.

SuuntoSuunto Run 2
- •You want Suunto's established, higher-rated watch with more GPS battery life for less money
- •There's no specific reason pulling you toward the newer Run 2 name
- •You specifically want Suunto's newest hardware generation and design
- •A slightly lighter case matters more to you than battery life or price
Race S keeps the AMOLED display and dual-band GPS of the full-size Race in a case built for smaller wrists, at the cost of some battery life. Still one of the better values in the mid-range watch category.
The Run 2 fixes the two biggest complaints about the original Run: a screen that washed out in direct sun and zero offline mapping. It now hits 2,000 nits, adds free worldwide offline maps standard, and swaps in a redesigned 12-channel heart rate sensor and Suunto's newest dual-band GNSS chip. A Marathon Mode with Ghost Runner pacing tool rounds out a genuinely useful jump for a watch that's still just 35 grams on the wrist.
