Coros Pace 4 vs Garmin Forerunner 70
Brand new against Coros' reigning budget favorite: the Pace 4 wins on GPS chip (true dual-frequency) and holds the higher user rating, but the Forerunner 70 has Garmin's ecosystem and a longer 13-day battery claim.

- •You want dual-frequency GPS accuracy and Coros' well-regarded training platform
- •You're already comparing against Coros watches and want to stay in that ecosystem
- •You want to stay inside Garmin Connect, especially if you already own other Garmin gear
- •Brand-new 2026 hardware appeals to you more than an established favorite
At 40 grams with a bright AMOLED screen, dual-band GPS, and 41 hours of GPS battery, the Pace 4 punches well above its $249 price. A recent firmware update added offline maps, closing the biggest gap between it and pricier watches, while it still skips deep smartwatch extras to stay focused on being an excellent, lightweight training tool.
The Forerunner 70 swaps the old MIP screen and button-only design of the 55 for AMOLED and touch, while finally bringing Training Readiness, Training Status, and wrist-based Running Power down to Garmin's cheapest running watch. It skips the altimeter, compass, and Garmin Pay found on the 170, but for straightforward road running, it's the new baseline to beat at this price.
