Amazfit Active 2 vs Garmin Forerunner 55
The Active 2 costs $100 less and adds a color AMOLED touchscreen, a speaker for calls, and offline maps. The Forerunner 55 brings Garmin's training tools, a buttons-only design that's easier with sweaty hands, and a 4.6 rating as Garmin's cheapest running watch.

GarminGarmin Forerunner 55
- •You want a modern AMOLED watch with calls and maps for $99
- •Touch controls are fine for you
- •You want Garmin's running tools and physical buttons
- •You'll pay $100 more for the Garmin ecosystem
The Active 2 is Amazfit's entry-level running watch: a 1.32-inch AMOLED display, built-in GPS across five satellite systems, Bluetooth calls with a speaker and mic, and up to 21 hours of continuous GPS in a 44mm case that weighs about 30 grams. The Premium version adds sapphire glass and a leather strap for $129.99. GPS is single-band, so accuracy under tree cover or between tall buildings won't match dual-band watches.
The Forerunner 55 sticks to buttons and a simple display, but still includes race predictor, suggested daily workouts, and recovery tracking underneath. It's proof that a watch doesn't need AMOLED or a touchscreen to actually coach you.
