Suunto Race 2 vs Suunto Race S
Both are training-tier AMOLED runners' watches, but the Race 2 costs $150 more for a 55-hour GPS runtime that nearly doubles the Race S's, plus Suunto's newest AI Coach and Recovery Score tools.
SuuntoSuunto Race 2
SuuntoSuunto Race S
- •You want Suunto's longest-lasting GPS battery and its newest training software
- •$150 more is worth it for the latest generation of hardware
- •You want a smaller 43mm case built specifically for narrow wrists
- •40 hours of GPS runtime already covers your typical training week
The Race 2 jumps to a 2,000-nit, 120Hz AMOLED display and stretches dual-band GPS battery life to 55 hours, all in a thinner, lighter case available in steel or titanium. New AI Coach guidance, Training Stress Score, and a unified Recovery Score bring Suunto's training smarts much closer to Garmin's, without losing the lightweight, racing-first feel the Race series built its name on.
Race S keeps the AMOLED display and dual-band GPS of the full-size Race in a case built for smaller wrists, at the cost of some battery life. Still one of the better values in the mid-range watch category.
*Estimated — this model's exact GPS battery life isn't published by the manufacturer. All figures are standard GPS mode, midsize case, no solar boost.
