Same max-tier analytics, but the Apex 4 costs $171 less and rates significantly higher — the Cheetah 2 Ultra's bigger screen is its main selling point for reading maps on long efforts.

The Full Story

The Cheetah 2 Ultra targets mountain ultrarunners specifically, with a bigger screen for reading maps and enough battery to cover long efforts without a mid-race charge. A legitimate alternative to Garmin's Enduro or Suunto's Vertical, at a lower price.

The Apex 4 delivers much of what a Fenix 8 or Forerunner 970 offers for training depth and durability, at a noticeably lower price. Smart features are minimal by design, but the core running and trail tracking is excellent.

*Estimated — this model's exact GPS battery life isn't published by the manufacturer. All figures are standard GPS mode, midsize case, no solar boost.

†Estimated — this model launched too recently to have an established customer rating yet.
