Head to Head

Garmin Forerunner 570 vs Garmin Instinct 2

About as different as two Garmins get, the 570 is a $549 smartwatch with calls, mic, and voice assistant, while the Instinct 2 is a $349 buttons-only watch on the basics analytics tier. The real decision is smartwatch versus outdoor tool.

Best For
  • •You want wrist calls, a mic, and voice assistant on top of training data
  • •A touchscreen and smartwatch features matter more to you than battery life
  • •You want a simple, durable GPS watch and don't care about smartwatch features
  • •$349 versus $549 is not a small gap to you
The Full Story

The 570 layers a speaker, microphone, and voice assistant onto Garmin's mid-range running watch, closing some of the gap with true smartwatches. It's a genuinely nice watch, just priced close enough to the 970 that it's worth comparing both before buying.

The Instinct 2 skips the touchscreen and AMOLED glow entirely for a always-on display, multi-GNSS support, and up to 28 days of smartwatch battery life. No frills, no training-load dashboard, just accurate GPS and real durability for less than most of Garmin's lineup.

*Estimated — this model's exact GPS battery life isn't published by the manufacturer. All figures are standard GPS mode, midsize case, no solar boost.

†Estimated — this model launched too recently to have an established customer rating yet.
