Head to Head

Coros Apex 2 vs Coros Apex 4

The Apex 4 reaches Coros's max-tier analytics for just $30 more, though the older Apex 2 actually rates higher — worth weighing training depth against real-world reviews.

Best For
  • •You want Coros's higher-rated watch, even at training-tier rather than max
  • •You'd rather save the generation gap for a bigger upgrade later
  • •You want Coros's current max-tier analytics for a small premium
  • •You don't mind the newer model's slightly lower user rating
The Full Story

The Apex 2 packs a titanium bezel, sapphire glass, dual-frequency GPS, and 40 hours of GPS battery life into a lighter, cheaper package than Coros's Vertix line. Superseded by the Apex 4, but the core training tools still hold up for the price.

The Apex 4 delivers much of what a Fenix 8 or Forerunner 970 offers for training depth and durability, at a noticeably lower price. Smart features are minimal by design, but the core running and trail tracking is excellent.

*Estimated — this model's exact GPS battery life isn't published by the manufacturer. All figures are standard GPS mode, midsize case, no solar boost.

†Estimated — this model launched too recently to have an established customer rating yet.
