Head to Head

Apple Watch Ultra 4 vs Garmin Venu 3

The Ultra 4 now reaches max-tier analytics, a real upgrade the Venu 3 doesn't match, but it costs $350 more and the Venu 3 is the only one of the two that works with Android.

Best For
  • •You're on iPhone and want Apple's most capable, most rugged watch now that it reaches max-tier analytics
  • •$350 more is worth it for the analytics upgrade and outdoor durability
  • •You're on Android, where the Ultra 4 isn't an option at all
  • •You want Garmin's lifestyle-focused health tracking for significantly less
The Full Story

The Ultra 4 keeps the titanium case and Action button of past Ultras, then pushes the display to 3,000 nits, dual-frequency GPS, and genuine offline maps with custom route creation. Training Load, VO2 max, running power, and satellite-based Emergency SOS round out a watch built as much for serious training as for the backcountry. It's still an iPhone-only watch, so it's not a fit if you're on Android, but for iOS runners who want real training data without leaving Apple's ecosystem, this is as good as Apple gets.

The Venu 3 blends Garmin's core fitness tracking and Body Battery readiness with a built-in speaker and microphone for taking calls from your wrist. It trades away deep running-load metrics like Training Readiness, making it ideal for runners who prioritize health tracking and smartwatch convenience.
