Apple Watch Ultra 4 vs Coros Vertix 2S
Both now reach max-tier analytics, but the Vertix 2S packs exactly four times the GPS battery life (73 hours vs. 18) for $100 less, while the Ultra 4 counters with wrist calls the Vertix 2S doesn't have.

CorosCoros Vertix 2S
- •You're an iPhone user who wants Apple's ecosystem and the ability to take calls from your wrist
- •18 hours of GPS runtime already covers your typical outing
- •You want dramatically longer GPS battery life for $100 less
- •You're an Android user or don't want to be locked to Apple's ecosystem
The Ultra 4 keeps the titanium case and Action button of past Ultras, then pushes the display to 3,000 nits, dual-frequency GPS, and genuine offline maps with custom route creation. Training Load, VO2 max, running power, and satellite-based Emergency SOS round out a watch built as much for serious training as for the backcountry. It's still an iPhone-only watch, so it's not a fit if you're on Android, but for iOS runners who want real training data without leaving Apple's ecosystem, this is as good as Apple gets.
The Vertix 2S is aimed at ultrarunners and expedition athletes who need battery life measured in weeks, not days. It's showing its age against newer competitors, but the core training and navigation tools remain rock solid.
*Estimated — this model's exact GPS battery life isn't published by the manufacturer. All figures are standard GPS mode, midsize case, no solar boost.
