The T-Rex Ultra 2 costs $150 less, has full offline maps, more than doubles the GPS runtime (50 hours versus 20), and works with iPhone too. The Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 is 27 grams lighter and has ECG, streaming music sync, and a far more polished smartwatch experience, but only on Android.

The Full Story

The T-Rex Ultra 2 is Amazfit's answer to the Fenix and the Apple Watch Ultra, at $549. It has preloaded full-color global maps with on-watch route planning, dual-band GPS, 64GB of storage, a dual-color flashlight, a speaker for Bluetooth calls, and 10 ATM water resistance with diving support to 45 meters. It's a big 51mm, 89-gram watch, and Amazfit's software and app ecosystem are still thinner than Garmin's.

The Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 keeps the titanium case and dual-frequency GPS, then adds a much bigger battery in a thinner 10.7mm body, a 5,000-nit display, and EN13319 dive certification to 40 meters. A Trail Run mode with climb guidance and GPX turn-by-turn routes make it a real running tool, though it follows loaded routes instead of showing full offline maps. It's Android-only, sold in one 47mm LTE-ready size, and at $699.99 it undercuts the Apple Watch Ultra 4 by $100.

*Estimated — this model's exact GPS battery life isn't published by the manufacturer. All figures are standard GPS mode, midsize case, no solar boost.

†Estimated — this model launched too recently to have an established customer rating yet.
